Lake Warren State Park fishing & boating

Lake Warren is the heart of a quiet 440-acre state park in the Lowcountry, about four miles southwest of Hampton. The 200-acre lake — backed by a smaller two-acre fishing pond — sits among cypress wetlands and pine woods that draw paddlers, picnickers and birdwatchers as much as anglers.

It is genuinely good fishing water: largemouth bass, bream, redbreast, crappie and catfish, reached from two boat ramps, a large fishing pier and a floating dock. Motors are capped at 10 horsepower, and the park rents jon boats by the day for visitors without their own. It is the kind of unhurried Lowcountry lake that rewards a slow morning on the water.
