Lake John D. Long – Union County

Lake John D. Long is an 80-acre public fishing lake in rural Union County, near Lockhart. Built in the 1970s and named for a family of South Carolina state senators, it is a managed state lake with a quiet, wooded shoreline.

Fishing and access

The lake offers largemouth bass, bluegill, shellcracker (redear sunfish) and catfish, with a boat ramp and a fishing pier for bank anglers. A South Carolina fishing license is required.
