Lake Cooley fishing & boating guide

Lake Cooley is a quiet 332-acre reservoir near Inman in northern Spartanburg County. It belongs to the SJWD Water District and is run for recreation by Spartanburg County Parks, which keeps a tidy lakeside park and outdoor education center on the shore. Anglers come for largemouth bass, crappie, bream and catfish, fishing from the bank, the pier or a small boat.

The Lake Cooley Park access on Cooley Dock Road has a dual boat ramp, an accessible dock and kayak launch, a fishing pier, a playground and parking for around fifty rigs. Boating is permit-only through the SJWD Water District, with motors capped at 15 horsepower (30 on a pontoon) — which is exactly what makes Cooley such a calm, paddle-friendly lake.
