Lake Paul Wallace is the recreation lake of Bennettsville, in Marlboro County, doubling as a managed state fishing water and a city park. A 1.5-mile lighted walking trail divides the lake, keeping watersports and fishing on separate sides.

The fishing side of Paul Wallace is limited to motors of 10 horsepower or less, keeping it calm for anglers after largemouth bass, bluegill, shellcracker, chain pickerel and catfish. The adjoining Lake Wallace Wildlife Management Area adds about 52 acres of shoreline habitat. With its lighted trail, boating area and city-park amenities, it is a community hub as much as a fishing lake. A South Carolina license is required to fish.
