Largemouth Bass Caught Here
February 2011 – I just completed a bass fishing trip to Lake Oolenoy and the bass fishing at this lake is incredible. My fishing buddy and I caught our limit of bass in just a few hours. Also, In the Summer of 2010 myfishging buddy caught an 11.5 pound largemouth bass from this lake fishing from the dock.

Lake Oolenoy fishing & paddling guide
Lake Oolenoy is the 67-acre lake on the eastern side of Table Rock State Park in Pickens County, sitting in the shadow of the granite face of Table Rock itself — one of the most photographed views in South Carolina. Together with neighboring Lake Pinnacle, it gives the park two cool mountain lakes to fish and paddle.
Oolenoy is stocked with largemouth bass, bream and catfish, and an accessible fishing pier makes the bank easy to reach; a South Carolina fishing license is required. There is a boat ramp, but no gas motors are allowed — only electric trolling motors and paddle craft — which keeps the lake serene for kayaks and canoes. Launching requires the daily park admission unless you hold a State Parks pass.
Nearby lakes
- Lake Pinnacle — the park’s other lake
- Lake Keowee & Lake Jocassee — the big clear lakes just west

Fishing Lake Oolenoy
Oolenoy is a genuinely good little fishing lake for its size. Stocked largemouth bass, bream and catfish keep it productive, and an accessible fishing pier puts the bank within reach of everyone. Because only electric trolling motors and paddle craft are allowed, the water stays calm and clear — ideal for a quiet morning with a kayak and a rod. A South Carolina license is required.
Under the granite face of Table Rock
What sets Oolenoy apart is the view: the sheer granite dome of Table Rock rises straight above the water, one of the most photographed scenes in the state. From the lake you can step onto the Table Rock Trail, a strenuous climb to the summit, or take the gentler Lakeside and Carrick Creek loops. The whole park was hand-built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s, and it shows in the stonework around the shoreline.
Swimming, camping and know before you go
Table Rock State Park adds a swimming area (on neighboring Lake Pinnacle), campsites, cabins and a restaurant, so Oolenoy anchors a full day out in the Blue Ridge foothills. The park charges a small daily admission, free with a South Carolina State Parks pass.
