Lake HB Robinson is a medium sized 2,250 acre lake located near the city of Hartsville South Carolina in the eastern part of the state. This lake is owned by Progress Energy who operates nuclear energy plant and a coal plant on Lake Robinson. The lake has public facilities including boat ramps provided by Progress Energy. There are also campgrounds on both sides of the lake. Do not confuse this lake with Lake John Robinson located in Greer SC.
About the Lake
Lake HB Robinson is located in Chesterfield and Darlington County just northwest of Hartsville South Carolina. Lake Robinson impounds Big Black Creek, Little Beaverdam Creek and Big Beaverdam Creek. The lake is owned and operated by Progress Energy, which runs the H.B. Robinson Nuclear Power Plant and a coal fired electric plant. There is a public boat ramp located on Lake Robinson Drive operated by Progress Energy. There are several campgrounds with RV and tent camping available on both sides of the lake. These campgrounds will also have boat ramps and public restrooms.
In addition to Lake Robinson, the Hartsville area includes Lake Prestwood, Cheraw State Park, Carolina Sand Hills National Wildlife Refuge, Sand Hills State Forest, NASCAR Darlington Race Track, and Sugarloaf Mountain Recreation Area. You can easily spend several days visiting all of these places.
